Ascension Water Company is proud of the fine drinking water it provides. Together with our affiliate companies, Parish Water Company and Baton Rouge Water Company, we operate over 90 groundwater wells in the various sands of the Southern Hills aquifer system that underlie most of our service area. Water from these sands is of excellent quality with natural low mineral concentrations and is not subject to surface water influences. Our system is backed up by auxiliary diesel engines and generators preventing widespread service outages if the electricity goes off. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita are perfect examples of our system's reliability - the power was off in much of the service area after these storms, but the water kept flowing.

Approximately 96% of Ascension Water Company's customers receive water purchased from either Parish Water Company or Baton Rouge Water Company.
